TRANSPORTED THROUGH TIME

A simple car journey turned out to be a supernatural encounter with our God took place on 14 Oct. 2007. Church leader Ronnie Yeo, Prophet Rusty Russell and I were heading back to Singapore after a series of meetings with the Breakthrough City Church in Malacca, Malaysia. By the time we left the downtown Malaccan restaurant after supper and headed for Ronnie’s car, it was already 1am.

Rusty said, “Have you ever heard of being transported in the Spirit to reach a destination in a short amount of time?” We said, “Only in the Bible with Philip.” So Rusty prayed before our journey back to Singapore. And because he had a speaking engagement in Singapore at 8.30am, he asked the Lord to help us reach home in extra quick time. The journey from the restaurant to the toll-gate (at Ayer Keroh) to the North-South Highway took us 30 minutes. The journey from this point on the North-South Highway to Singapore would be a distance of 200kms and the faster drivers would take nearly 2.5 hours to complete the journey.

Our travel on the North-South Highway was smooth until we began to encounter fog. The poor visibility forced us to trim down the speed to around 80 kph. (49.7mph) And as I kept Ronnie awake with conversations, Prophet Rusty Russell was in the back-seat, fast asleep in dreamland. After about 40 minutes of traveling, we had a rude shock.

WE ENCOUNTERED A RUDE SHOCK!

All of a sudden, the car lights just went off. We were plunged into an eerie silence and pitch darkness. We could not even see the surroundings around us. The car’s engine was still on and the car was still moving along. I remembered crying out loud: “Whoa! What’s happening, Ronnie?” And Ronnie saying “Don’t know, man!” Then as sudden as the lights went off, it came on again after 4 seconds, without even a click. “Wow, what was that? Anything wrong?” and Ronnie’s reply was “No, nothing wrong with the car.” We went on nonchalantly until we came to the exit to the Second Link to Singapore and soon stopped at a petrol station for refueling. It took us another 10 minutes to reach the Johore Immigration Check-point before crossing the Causeway to the Singapore side. After another 10 minutes at the Singapore Check-point, we entered Singapore. Ronnie then dropped me at my home in Clementi after another 20 minutes of driving. But before Ronnie drove away, he asked, “Hey, what’s the time?” And my answer was “It’s 2.45am.”

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE 4 SECONDS – LIGHTS OFF?

The next evening, Ronnie asked me, “Do you understood the significance of the 4 seconds lights-off?”
“I said I did not have a clue.”
He asked me “What time did we leave the downtown restaurant in Malacca?
My answer was “1 am.”
“What time did it take for us to reach the toll gate at Ayer Keroh?”
and my reply was “1.30 am.”
Then Ronnie asked “How much does it normally take for the average driver to drive from Malacca to Singapore?”
and my answer was “2.5 to 3 hours.”
Then he asked the question that opened my eyes,
“What time was it when I dropped you off?”
And my answer “2.45am.”
“And how much time did we travel from 1am to 2.45am?”
and my answer “ONE and THREE QUARTER HOURS.”
Then Ronnie suggested, “We only took half the time to reach Singapore. It was impossible at the speed we were going, the fog, and the stopovers we made.. The only explanation would be in the 4 seconds of complete darkness. Bernard, I believe we were supernaturally transported through time during that 4 seconds. God cut short our travelling time!”

I could only say, “Wow! What an awesome experience! What an answer to Rusty’s prayer!”

I can only testify that what happened was a supernatural act of God to transport us through time!

‘Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?” (Exodus 15:11)
